Environment Friends Society

The Environment Friends Society (EFS) was founded in 2000 and focuses on sustainability initiatives in regional, national, and international contexts. The organization administers conservation programs focused on the climate crisis and protecting aquatic ecosystems. EFS serves as a meeting place for interdisciplinary organizations to address environmental concerns and create solutions. They increase environmental awareness in Bahrain by promoting environmental films and sustainability campaigns including “No for Plastic BAGS”.

Bahrain Woman Association for Human Development

Established in 2001 and an accredited NGO under the UNEP, this Bahraini organization carries objectives such as modeling a culture to enhance social justice and sustainable development and empowering individuals to uplift themselves and their communities. Their Environmental Citizenship Program has held various informative and engaging lectures or workshops that address sustainability such as the clothing industry or a compost workshop. Since 2011, the organization has also held collaborative climate change presentations and lectures and also youth workshops that address climate change.
