DakotaMargolis

DAKOTA MARGOLIS

Design Coordinator, Sustainable Fashion Team

Dakota Margolis (she/her/hers) is based in Berkeley, CA and serves as the Design Coordinator for the Sustainable Fashion team. She studied Conservation and Resource Management, focusing on wildlife ecology, environmental history, and sustainability education. Through her exploration of presenting sustainable fashion via graphic design, she has found a passion for combining education and creativity. Her dream job is to be an environmental photographer, in which she would use visual tools and messages to convey environmental and social issues.
SUSTAINABLE FASHION

TASNIMA ZAMAN

Certification Coordinator

Tasnima Zaman (she/her/hers) is based in New York City and serves as the Certification Coordinator for the Sustainable Fashion team. At school she studies economics with a focus on human rights, and she brings her passions to the work she does on her team. She has helped make progress on the certification program, a training guide for fashion industry professionals to incorporate more sustainable practices into their companies. Growing up in a marginalized community herself, as well as exploring inequality and advocacy in her academics and extracurriculars, Tasnima aims to serve the communities that climate change and environmental injustice impact the most.

BANNIE BAJWA

Bannie Bajwa (she/her/hers) is based in Santa Barbara, California and serves as a member of the Sustainable Fashion team. In the past couple years, she has developed a passion for fighting fast fashion and its unethical production methods and byproducts. From boycotting the fast fashion industry and promoting the use of reselling apps and thrift stores, she has actively worked to educate herself and those around her about the importance of shopping sustainably and secondhand. She has applied this passion to her team’s work by utilizing her knowledge to work on initiatives focused on educating companies/the general public about the unethical fashion industry and what they can do to reduce their impact.

LEXI CIAGNE

Lexi Ciagne (she/her/hers) is one of our newest additions to the Graphic Design team, where she works on building up our brand, creating amazing spreads for ALTR magazine, and brainstorming future content. She is most inspired by the endless possibilities and creativity found within sustainable fashion, and the power of transforming the materials we have around us into a variety of uses rather than starting from scratch, at our planet’s expense. Fun fact: Lexi has never ever thrown away a singular article of clothing! She plans on showing the world how easy and fun it can be to reduce, reuse, and recycle their wardrobe.

VICTORIA GONZALEZ

Victoria Gonzalez (she/her/hers) is originally from Detroit, Michigan but is based in Pullman, WA. She currently serves as a researcher for our Sustainable Fashion team. Victoria’s passion for the environment budded at a young age after viewing Al Gore’s movie “An Inconvenient Truth,” which was the first time she was introduced to the topic of climate change. Most passionate about the fashion industry and its intersectionalism, Victoria wants to shed light on fashion’s current linear and wasteful methods and have a helping hand in transitioning to a more circular economy. Her current research areas are increasing the implementation of LCAs in the textile and apparel industry and evaluating the social impacts of garment manufacturing. Victoria sees the fashion industry’s great potential to become a leader in the sustainability movement and wants to do everything she can to help it get there!

IZABELA SANCHEZ

Izabela Sanchez (she/her/hers) is based in Walnut, California and serves as a member of our Sustainable Fashion team. She devotes a majority of her time to the ALTR magazine and has helped bring it to life. She has helped organize countless beach clean-ups and advocated for the use of sustainable food packaging. Her passion for the environmental stems from seeing garbage patches and how over consumption and fast fashion are polluting our environment.
GLOBAL CLIMATE & SUSTAINABILITY NGOs

JULIA YANG

Global NGO Partnerships Coordinator

Julia Yang (she/her/hers) is originally from Tianjin, China but moved to Chicago, Illinois when she was nine years old. She serves as our Global NGO Partnerships Coordinator. Julia helps manage our international partnerships and coordinate collaboration opportunities. Recently, she was able to work in the Massachusetts House of Representatives with Rep. Brandy Fluker Oakley to observe the advancement of sustainability from a policy level. She assisted in pushing an environmental bill through the statehouse that made manufacturers responsible for their non-recyclable packaging materials and encouraged producers to contribute to a fund for the amount of packaging waste they create.

JOYCE LEE

Sustainability Communications Coordinator

Joyce Lee (she/her/hers) is based in the San Fernando Valley, California and serves as the Sustainability Communications Coordinator on our Global Climate and Sustainability Organizations team. Because she grew up in a community that struggled with a great deal of environmental issues, those experiences have inspired her to pursue a career in the environmental science field. With her passion for environmental justice, she hopes to continue working with environmental nonprofits and promote change in her own community and other low income communities of color.

BRIANNA BUCHLER

Global Climate and Sustainability Research Associate

Brianna Buchler (she/her/hers) is based in Miami, Florida and serves as a member of the Global Climate and Sustainability Organizations team.
