Rainforest Trust
The Rainforest Trust is an international organization that focuses on rainforest preservation, conservation, and environmental sustainability. Rainforest Trust’s work in Ivory Coast surrounds the protection of the nation’s lush, beautiful, and incredibly biodiverse coastline as well as its marine life and shoreline. They accomplish this through purchasing threatened stretches of rainforest and then working to reinvigorate biodiversity richness and protection through collaboration with local communities. Additionally, they strive to identify new territories needing official protection, and they work with skilled conservationists and activists to achieve a national protected status for these lands.

SOS Forets
SOS-Forets is an NGO based in the Ivory Coast, focused on forest preservation with an acute interest in biodiversity conservation. SOS-Forets’ main objective is to encourage the responsible management of natural resources in the Ivory Coast and beyond. Examples of SOS-Forets’ projects include the CisoPFLEG, whose main objective is to improve the local and communal governance of forests, striving for sustainable forest management. CisoPLFLEG is a partnership between four nations, Ghana, Cameroon, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and the Ivory Coast.

World Cocoa Foundation
The World Cocoa Foundation is a non-profit organization that works to integrate sustainability to the cocoa industry through public and private investments as well as through raising awareness on deforestation. Cocoa-related deforestation has become a major issue in Ivory Coast, as the country has lost nearly 25% of their primary forest between 2002-2019 as a result of unsustainable farming. To fight back against this problem, the organization launched their Cocoa and Forests Initiative to help restore forest areas while maximizing cocoa production. The organization also prioritizes climate smart investments that focus on agriculture, empowering communities, and improving the lives of cocoa farmers.
