Earthcare
Earthcare is a non-governmental organization based in the Bahamas that promotes environmental education. Members of Earthcare visit different schools throughout the country and inform students and teachers about current and future environmental issues. Earthcare hopes that being informed will make people feel empowered and inspired to save our planet now and for future generations. Such an effort encourages informed individuals to develop a passion for environmental science and pursue an education or career in the environmental field. Earthcare also motivates students to use their newfound knowledge to write to government officials about their opinions on environmental issues.

Bahamas Reef Environment Educational Foundation
Founded in 1993, the Bahamas Reef Environment Educational Foundation (BREEF) has served as an educator and advocate for the health and wellbeing of the Bahamas’ marine ecosystems. The nonprofit organization provides a multitude of educational resources for Bahamians. BREEF offers camps, virtual reef tours, and coastal field trips for participants of all ages across the country. They seek to spread the knowledge of marine life through training teachers on environmental education courses, which can then be implemented in schools across the nation. Since its founding, BREEF has trained over 650 teachers, making it so that each school in the Bahamas has at least one teacher trained in this field.

Cape Eleuthera Institute (CEI)
The Cape Eleuthera Institute serves as the research and innovation branch of The Cape Eleuthera Island School, working hand in hand with the organization’s educational programs to chart a path toward a more livable future. CEI conducts environmental research and innovates systems and designs that model how to live sustainably in The Bahamas, and in other island nations. CEI is a hub for conservation research, where scientists, engineers, and educators work alongside each other and students to conduct meaningful research that addresses sustainable development issues facing the Bahamas and the Caribbean.

The Nature Conservancy
With high rates of tourism, the health of the marine and coastal environments are detrimental to the Bahamian livelihood. The Nature Conservancy (TNC) has worked in the Bahamas with its government, community members and their partners for over twenty years. Their main goal is to create a more secure future for both nature and the people. Advancing historic marine protections, creating sustainable fisheries, using innovation and collaboration to save Bahamian Coral Reefs, and building a sustainable future are all areas that the Nature Conservancy focuses on. With the help of TNC, the Bahamas has even introduced a world-recognized sustainable fishery. Using each of these efforts, TNC is developing a resilient future for the Bahamas.
