Iceland Nature Conservation Association (INCA)

The Iceland Nature Conservation Association (INCA) is a conservation NGO with the primary objective of conserving and protecting the wilderness of Iceland. In addition to being a member of Climate Action Network Europe, they have also been represented at the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change since 1999 and has been the leading NGO in Iceland on this issue. Aside from focusing their attention on climate change from the outset, INCA has been heavily involved in the public debate on the sustainable use of hydroelectric and geothermal resources to emphasize their potential in regards to nature conservation and tourism.

Landvernd

Landvernd, the Icelandic Environment Association, is a national environmental non-governmental organization based in Iceland founded with a main emphasis on nature conservation, particularly soil and vegetation conservation. Landvernd is the leading environmental NGO in Iceland. In recent years Landvernd has also expanded to become a leading organization in environmental education in Iceland, with a main focus on children and teens, but also on adults. In addition, Landvernd has put further focus on climate change and the impact of the constantly accumulating amounts of tourists visiting the delicate landscape of Iceland.

SEEDS Iceland

Founded in 2005, SEEDS Iceland is a non-governmental, non-profit volunteer organization working on promoting environmental protection and awareness. The organization accomplishes these goals by working with the local community through social, cultural, and environmental projects. Since its foundation, SEEDS Iceland is now one of the leading non-governmental organizations in Iceland and one of the largest volunteer organizations in Europe.

The Icelandic Youth Environmentalist Association is a non-governmental organisation with the primary objective of giving young people a platform to positively influence the way society interacts with nature. They strive to encourage young environmentalists to speak out on environmental issues and fight for sustainable development, nature conservation and a green economy. Young Environmentalists want the needs of the present generation to be met without compromising the potential of future generations. In order to achieve these goals, they put pressure on the government to influence policy and promote peer education through events and publishing. The issues they focus on include climate change, wilderness protection, over-consumption and the maintenance of biological and geological diversity.
